Late last week actor Joe Manganiello indicated he’s no longer certain about whether he’ll star in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” film. Now, J.K. Simmons is unsure if his Commissioner James Gordon will be a part of the action either.
Simmons will make his debut in the role in this Fall’s “Justice League” and was asked in a recent interview with Screen Crush what’s next for him. He sounds hopeful to return to the role, even though he’s uncertain when that will be:
“My part in the first film coming out this fall is very, very small… It’s a little introduction of the character. But whenever the next one gets off the ground, whether it’s ‘The Batman’ movie or the ‘Justice League’ sequel, and I know those things are getting shuffled around right now … we thought we might be getting to work pretty soon on ‘The Batman,’ but we’ll see what the future brings. Hopefully that’ll be another comic-book character that I get to take two or three or four cracks at.”
“The Batman” was originally set to begin shooting in the next couple of months, but now seems unlikely to shoot until late 2017/early 2018 with the film not opening until sometime in 2019.
