Side Effects Gets Cast But Loses Funding

Catherine Zeta-Jones has joined the cast of Steven Soderbergh’s $30 million new sexual thriller “Side Effects” reports Deadline.

Scott Z. Burns penned the story in which Blake Lively plays a troubled, depressed and often medicated woman who gets into a relationship with another doctor (Jude Law).

Her intake is to help her deal with the anxiety surrounding the pending release of her husband (Channing Tatum) from prison. Zeta Jones will play a doctor.

The casting news comes as Annapurna Pictures, which was set to fund the film, has pulled out of the production reports Variety.

This time last week Open Road Films, who had signed on as distributor, announced that it an Annapurna would partner on the film.

Despite the dropout, the production reportedly has already received multiple offers and will likely lock down a deal before the end of Sundance on the weekend.
