Despite financially doing well, the absolute critical hammering that M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film “The Last Airbender” has received seems to have had a surprising side effect.
Universal Pictures has changed the title of its upcoming horror release “The Night Chronicles: Devil” to simply “Devil” reports Shock ‘Til You Drop. The film is the first in a series of releases by Shyamalan’s production company utilising stories by the filmmaker which others have gone on to develop.
In the case of “Devil”, Drew and John Erick Dowdle (“Quarantine”) are helming the story about a group of people trapped in a elevator who realise that the devil is among them.
The site chalks up the reason for the title change being “Universal Pictures no longer has confidence in Shyamalan’s name.”
