Shyamalan’s “Airbender” Shoots In PA

Filming gets underway in Reading, Pennsylvania on M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender” today according to The Reading Eagle.

Shooting on the Paramount Pictures production, based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series of the same name, kicks off at Pagoda on Mount Pennfollowing a two-week stint of location filming in Greenland last month.

Pennsylvania will stand in for a series of mythical nations – Air, Water, Earth and Fire. There will also be filming in Ontelaunee Township and at the William Penn Memorial Fire Tower at a later date.

Many of the interiors will be shot in Philadelphia as buildings in Reading did not meet requirements. The film opens July 2nd 2010.
