AMC’s horror streaming service Shudder has ordered an eight-part TV series based on the 2014 Maori action film “The Dead Lands”.
The series will focus on Waka Nuku Rau, a warrior who must find honour in a land ravaged by the supernatural. He is helped by a young woman named Mehe who is determined to help him with his cause.
The film’s star Te Kohe Tuhaka and screenwriter Glen Standring are returning and are joined by Kirk Torrance, Miriama Smith and Grace Palmer who will co-star. Peter Meteherangi, Taiko Burger and Michael Hurst are directing.
Shooting is already underway on location around Auckland.
