Right before he suffered a massive heart attack that nearly resulted in his death, comedian and filmmaker Kevin Smith performed a stand-up comedy special that was filmed for Showtime.
The stand-up routine that was filmed was the first of two performances Smith scheduled that night, his decision to cancel the second and seek medical help is what ultimately saved his life.
Now the cable network has announced that not only will the special air, it has set an air date for May 11th. Titled “Kevin Smith: Silent But Deadly,” the special sees Smith talk about marriage, fatherhood, friends, and his work.
Smith hasn’t lost his sense of humor since the heart attack and will appear on the small screen with a role on tonight’s episode of “The Flash,” which he directed, alongside his old onscreen cohort Jason Mewes and guest star Danny Trejo.
