Showtime has renewed their hit Fall dramas “Homeland” and “Masters of Sex” for another season of 12 episodes each.
These will mark the fourth and second season respectively of the dramas which will return in the fourth-quarter of 2014.
“Homeland” averages 6.5 million viewers, up 26% from last season. “Masters of Sex” averages 5.4 million viewers, up 33% from Homeland’s first season average in the same timeslot.
“Homeland” now ranks as Showtime’s top original series in a time of transition following the departure of stalwarts such as “Dexter,” “The Big C” and “The Borgias” this year.
The news also comes as the show came under some serious blowback this week due to a twist that has divided viewers and pushed this critical darling further out of favor with TV’s tastemakers.
