Showtime Picks Up Stiller’s “Super Sad True”

Showtime has picked up the rights to “Super Sad True Love Story,” the upcoming TV series adaptation of Gary Shteyngart’s 2010 novel of the same name.

Ben Stiller and Karl Gajdusek are teaming to executive produce the project which with the former directing and the latter writing the adaptation. The project marks Stiller’s scripted television directorial debut.

The story is told through the diaries of Lenny Abramov and the online posts of Eunice, telling their love story against the backdrop of contemporary American dystopia including issues like social networking privacy, youth obsession and political value erosion.
