Showtime Announces Premiere Dates & Renewals

Showtime used the 2016 Television Critics Association’s Summer Press Tour to make a bunch of announcements.

First up, they’ve renewed their TV series “Ray Donovan” for a fifth season of twelve episodes to air in 2017. They’ve also set the sixth season premiere of “Homeland” for January 15th and the second season premiere of “Billions” for February 19th. Both series are shooting in New York this summer.

Then there’s the new shows with the network ordering three comedy pilots – “White Famous,” “Mating” and “SMILF”. ‘Famous’ stars Jay Pharoah as a comedian on the rise who must maintain his credibility as he begins to cross-over towards becoming ‘white famous’.

“Mating” stars Taran Killam as a divorced guy who married young and now finds himself completely unprepared for the brave new and very fluid world of dating and hooking up. “SMILF” follows Frankie Shaw as a single, twenty-something whose desires for relationships, sex, and a career collide with the realities of young, single motherhood.
