Sherlock Premiere Ratings, Next Trailer

It may have been two years, but fans of BBC1’s “Sherlock” came out in droves for the UK premiere on New Year’s Day. The third series premiere pulled in the show’s largest overnight audience to date with 9.2 million viewers and a 33.8% share.

That’s certainly up on the ratings of the previous record holder by the series, the second season premiere which had an overnight audience of 8.75 million along with a 30.9% share.

It was also the most-watched show of the day on any channel in the UK, and the best performing drama of the Christmas period, beating out the holiday specials of “Doctor Who,” “EastEnders” and “Downton Abbey” last week.
