Dreamcast classic “Shenmue” is coming to modern platforms with publisher announcing both the first and second games in the series are being packaged together for release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC later this year.
The games follow a young martial artist on a quest to find his father’s killer and uncover the secret behind a mysterious item known as the Dragon Mirror. The titles were renowned for their impressive open world, deep battle system, and variety of minigames.
The Shenmue I & II collection is billed as the “best Shenmue experience to date” and will include fully scalable screen resolution, choice of modern or classic control schemes, PC graphics options, an updated user interface, and the option to enjoy either the original Japanese or English voiceovers.
However, these are not full on HD remakes or remasters. Sega hasn’t announced pricing details or an exact release date as yet. “Shenmue III” is currently in development for PS4 and PC.
