Shemar Moore To Lead The “SWAT” Series

Former “Criminal Minds” star Shemar Moore is returning to the CBS network with the lead role in the drama series reboot of “S.W.A.T.”.

“The Shield” creator Shawn Ryan is teaming with producers Neal H. Moritz, Justin Lin and Aaron Rahsaan Thomas on the series inspired by the 2003 Sony film which itself was based on the 1975 Aaron Spelling TV series.

Written by Thomas and directed by Lin, the action-packed procedural follows a locally born and bred S.W.A.T. lieutenant Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson (Moore), torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers when he’s tasked to run a highly-trained unit that is the last stop for solving crimes in Los Angeles.

Samuel L. Jackson played Moore’s role in the 2003 film. Moore will also serve as a producer on the project.
