“Sheldon” Picked Up As “Mist” Gets Cancelled

CBS has given a full-season order to its new comedy series “Young Sheldon,” a spin-off of “The Big Bang Theory”.

Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan, and Raegan Revord star in the story of nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper growing up in East Texas.

The series premiered Monday night and was the most-watched comedy premiere on any network since 2011 – averaging 17.21 million viewers and retaining 98% of its “The Big Bang Theory” viewer lead-in.

The news wasn’t so rosy over at Spike which has cancelled its Stephen King-inspired drama series “The Mist” after one season. The series was an original spin on both King’s novella and the more loyal 2007 Frank Darabont film adaptation.

The first season closed out with an anaemic 0.14 rating in Live+Same Day ratings, and the cancellation comes as Spike will rebrand itself as The Paramount Network in January.
