Actor Zachary Levi has posted a photo taken while getting his hair done in the iconic shiny slick back style of the superhero Shazam, the character he’s playing in the David Sandberg-directed DC Comics adaptation “Shazam”.
Currently filming in Toronto which is standing in for Philadelphia, Levi’s costume has been under wraps so far. However, Sandberg has said this week that the suit reveal is set to happen sooner rather than later. He posted on Reddit:
“WB have already decided yes. Actually, if someone had managed to snap a shot of the suit last week when we were shooting outside they would have released an official pic right away. Since we got away with it they want to do more of an official thing. And it’s right around the corner.”
The comments follow on from ones he made earlier that the design is akin to that in the direct-to-video animated movie “Justice League: War” complete with a white hood and cape on top of the iconic red outfit with a gold lightning bolt and trimmings.
Asher Angel stars in the film as Billy Batson, a 14-year-old foster kid who can transform into Levi’s adult form hero Shazam and has effectively the same powers as Superman (but still the maturity and recklessness of a teen). Mark Strong stars as the villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana and Jack Dylan Grazer as his best friend Freddy.
New Line is set to release the film on April 5th 2019.
