Sharknado 2 Breaks Rating, Twitter Records

Syfy’s “Sharknado 2: The Second One” launched last night and broke records for the network, quickly becoming the channel’s most watched original movie ever with 3.9 million total viewers and 1.6 million Adults 18-49 – nearly doubling both counts from the initial airing of the first “Sharknado”.

The telemovie also almost melted down social networks, delivering 581,000 related tweets and a whopping one BILLION estimated Twitter impressions – making it the “most social movie on TV ever”. In fact for one brief period, the show held all Top 10 Twitter trending topics in the United States.

Syfy will screen “Sharknado 2” again this Saturday and Sunday.
