Adam Shankman (“The Wedding Planner,” “Hairspray”) has come onboard to direct “What Men Want” for Paramount Players, a sequel to the Nancy Meyers 2000 comedy hit “What Women Want”.
Taraji P. Henson will portray the lead character, no other cast members have been confirmed as of yet. Henson will also produce alongside Will Packer and Jennifer Lopez.
Mel Gibson starred in the original as a chauvinistic marketing executive who is suddenly granted the ability to hear what women think after a freak incident.
“What Men Want” will see Henson portray a sports agent who is constantly disregarded by her male colleagues. When she is bestowed the power of hearing what men think, she utilizes her newfound ability by striving to sign the NBA’s next superstar.
Shankman will shoot the film before getting to work on “Disenchanted,” the sequel to 2007’s “Enchanted”. “What Men Want” is currently slated for a January 11th 2019 release.
