Appearing at the Television Critics Association panel for YouTube Red series “Step Up: High Water,” filmmaker Adam Shankman was on hand and briefly discussed the in-development sequel to Disney’s 2007 hit “Enchanted”.
Shankman is set to direct the film, which he confirms to Slashfilm is titled “Disenchanted” and offers a brief update on where the project stands right now:
“We are handing in a script in a couple weeks that I’m super happy with. Then gotta get the music written… There’s a lot more songs this time than there were in the original, at least in the planning phase right now. As for the animation, it’s probably about the same amount.”
The sequel is set a decade later with Amy Adams’ Princess Giselle potentially rethinking her love of the real world: “The fundamental story has changed a little bit, but not from the base story of it. It’s about Giselle 10 years later going, ‘What is happily ever after?'”.
“Disenchanted” will most likely hit late 2019 at the earliest.
