Netflix’s animated TV series adaptation of the “Castlevania” has scored very good reviews and has quickly managed to rack up a fan base. Now the show’s producer Adi Shankar is currently in negotiations to produce another game adaptation – one based on Nintendo’s flagship franchise “The Legend of Zelda”.
Shankar recently confirmed that his next project is another video game adaptation and the success of “Castlevania” had “created this opportunity”. He also indicated an announcement will be coming around mid-November.
It’s not clear whether the ‘Zelda’ series would be live-action or animated, though the latter is more likely. Nintendo famously has avoided adaptations of its games for many years, but a year ago they began to change their stance, leading to a new “Super Mario Bros.” animated feature currently in development at “Minions” creators Illumination Entertainment.
Netflix has previously expressed a desire to adapt the franchise, but that wasn’t confirmed. Nintendo has not yet commented on the report.
