Yesterday’s biggest news report dealt with the confirmation of the upcoming “Fast and the Furious” spin-off film following Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s Hobbs and Shaw characters.
Included in the write-up in Variety on the story though was one small detail not mentioned anywhere else. That detail? That “The Nice Guys” and “Iron Man 3” director Shane Black is being mentioned as a potential candidate to direct
Black is in the midst of post-production on “The Predator” which is due next year, and should he take the gig then it would be the first time he’s directed a film he hasn’t at least co-wrote.
Franchise veteran Chris Morgan will be writing the script though and it’s expected a decision about a helmer won’t be made until it’s done. Whatever the film is titled, it has set a July 26th 2019 release.
