When Shane Black was announced as director of the third “Iron Man”, many wondered (and hoped) that he would be working on the script as well.
Well, Black attended a panel at the Omaha Film Festival over the weekend and according to an AICN scooper he was asked exactly that question. Black responded that he’s scheduled to meet with Downey Jr. later this week and the actor will be contributing to the story. Black will be writing the script as well as directing he confirmed.
It seems that Marvel has acknowledged the issues with the previous sequel, namely the forced in “The Avengers” tie-ins and over the top robotics. So, the company plans on returning to more grounded, self-contained singular hero stories after “The Avengers”.
Black says “Iron Man 3 will not be another ‘two men in iron suits fighting each other’ film. Instead, it will be more like a Tom Clancy-thriller, with Iron Man fighting real world villians.”
