“The Get Down” and “Dope” actor Shameik Moore has been cast as the voice of Miles Morales, the popular incarnation of Spider-Man whom will serve as the main character of Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming animated “Spider-Man” film which has yet to set a title.
At the same time, Liev Schreiber is joining the project to voice the film’s villain, but his identity is being kept secret for now. The story deals with the half-black, half-latino Morales as he juggles school life and superheroics in the classic Spider-Man mold. Donald Glover previously voiced the character in Disney XD’s animated series “Ultimate Spider-Man”.
Phil Lord wrote the project and is executive-producing alongside his “Lego Movie” and “Han Solo” movie co-director, Chris Miller. “The Little Prince” writer Bob Persichetti is set to co-direct alongside Peter Ramsey (“Rise of the Guardians”).
