More names have joined the upcoming live-action TV series adaptation of the comic book “The Umbrella Academy” that’s in the works at Netflix and stars Ellen Page as Vanya.
Created by My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way, the stylized and surreal comics are set in an alternate timeline in which John F. Kennedy was never assassinated.
The story follows the five estranged and adopted members of a dysfunctional family of super-powered misfits as they work together to solve their eccentric millionaire father Reginald Hardgraves’ mysterious death. At the same time they’re coming apart at the seams due to their divergent personalities and abilities.
Joining Page in the cast are “Black Sails” and “Game of Thrones” alum Tom Hopper as the super strong and selfless leader Luther/Spaceboy, “Misfits” scene stealer Robert Sheehan as addict and petty thief Klaus/The Seance, “Hamilton” performer Emmy Raver-Lampman as the former movie star and persuasive Allison/The Rumor, David Castaneda as the anti-authoritarian Diego/The Kraken, and Aidan Gallagher as the 58-year-old trapped in a 13-year-old’s body called Number Five/The Boy.
Steve Blackman is set to serve as executive producer and showrunner with Jeremy Slater penning the pilot script.
