After increasing praise for his work capping off with 2015’s highly acclaimed “Mommy,” filmmaker Xavier Dolan hit a rough patch last year as his “It’s Only the End of the World” received more of a mixed response.
The Québécois wunderkind hasn’t let that stop him though and has begun production on his next film “The Death And Life Of John F. Donovan”. With work on the project set to proceed well into the new year, there’s no telling when exactly we’ll get to see it.
Jessica Chastain, Kit Harington, Taylor Kitsch, Kathy Bates, Susan Sarandon, Natalie Portman and Thandie Newton all star in the film which follows an American TV star (Harington) in his late 20s, his correspondence with a young actor-to-be living with his mother in England. Things take a turn when their pen pal relationship is publicly exposed.
Dolan did invite CNN to the set recently as he shot the opening sequence of the project which he’s doing on 65mm film. Check out the set visit video which the network has just released.
