Segel Opens The “Adventurer’s Handbook”

Jason Segel (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “I Love You Man”) is attached to star the comedy “The Adventurer’s Handbook” for Universal Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story follows four childhood friends who are bored with the monotony of their lives and embark on a global adventure inspired by the stories of explorers detailed in Mick Conefrey’s book “The Adventurer’s Handbook: Life Lessons From History’s Great Explorers.”

Segel would play a talented musician who never got his act together, becoming a backup piano player and an alcoholic. He joins Jonah Hill who plays an engineer isolated from his family, and Jason Schwartzman as a spoiled and cowardly three-time Grammy winner.

Akiva Schaffer is directing from a script by Hill, Matt Spicer and Max Winkler. Filming kicks off early next year.
