The first trailer for the Coens’ “Hail Caesar” was easily one of the best of last year’s previews, a trailer that promised a deliciously hilarious caper comedy about a 1950s Hollywood studio fixer (Josh Brolin) and the various people around him when a major star (George Clooney) gets kidnapped. On top of that it boasts an all-star cast including Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Jonah Hill and more.
It was enough to sell people on the film, but today surprisingly a whole new trailer has popped up which still looks great and plays more like an extended clip than an actual trailer. Taken almost entirely from one scene, the piece involves an elocution lesson between Ralph Fiennes and Alden Ehrenreich’s characters. Would that it were so simple, “Hail Caesar” is slated to open February 5th.
