The first trailer for Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine in the upcoming “Logan” has become iconic in its own right. Showing off a much darker, grittier and more desolate tone – it was so good that any subsequent preview was to have had a hard time following it up.
Fox has tried with this second trailer, in both green and red-band versions, which simply can’t do it – though the red-band comes close. It is more energetic though and boasts a feeling more akin to the “X-Men” films we’re familiar with. There’s also a much bigger emphasis on action here with the young X-23 kicking ass and lots of bloody clawed leaping action.
Set in the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
“Logan” opens March 3rd.
