Bucky Barnes himself, “Captain America” actor Sebastian Stan, has joined the cast of the suspense thriller “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” for Further Films and Great Point Media.
An adaptation of the 1962 story by “The Haunting of Hill House” author Shirley Jackson, the story centers on an isolated family that has already lost four members to poisoning.
The remainder uses rituals and talismans to keep themselves away from hostile townspeople. A distant cousin (Stan) arrives intent on maliciously securing the family’s fortune, and whose arrival sets in motion the uncovering of family secrets.
Stacie Passon will direct from a script she co-wrote with Mark Kruger. Michael Douglas, Jared Goldman, Robert Mitas, and Robert Halmi Jr. will produce. Shooting kicks off in Dublin this month.
The property was previously translated into a play and a musical, but hasn’t been done on film before.
