“Soul Surfer” helmer Sean McNamara is set to direct “Reagan,” a $25 million indie biopic about the United States of America’s 40th president – Ronald Reagan.
Howie Klausner (“Space Cowboys”) penned the film which will follow Reagan’s life from teenager to film star to the presidency.
The twist? The life story unfolds from the perspective of a KGB agent assigned to follow him during the early days of the Cold War – a time when Reagan was vehemently anti-Communist while running the Screen Actors Guild.
David Henrie (“Wizards of Waverly Place”) will play the younger version of Reagan, no word on who will play the older presidential version. Robert Davi has signed on to play Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev.
Ralph Winter will executive produce.
