Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan are set to pen a new version “Brewster’s Millions” for Warner Bros. Pictures according to The Hollywood Reporter.
George Barr McCutcheon penned the novel back in 1902 in which a man receives $1 million from a rich grandfather. When a rich uncle dies, he leaves the man $7 million dollars.
However, there are stipulations. The man has to spend “the grandfather’s million within a year and not end up with any assets from the spending spree.”
The film was previously adapted in 1945 and 1985, the latter starring Richard Pryor and John Candy. The amounts will be updated to reflect modern currently values (ie. $200 million must be spent to inherit $1 billion).
