Martin Scorsese is set to direct an English-language feature film adaptation of Norwegian author Jo Nesbo’s best-selling novel “The Snowman” for Working Title says The Hollywood Reporter.
The seventh book in a series featuring alcoholic and troubled Norwegian detective Harry Hole, the story involves a boy finding his mother’s pink scarf wrapped around the neck of a ominous looking snowman. Hole realizes she is the latest victim of a serial killer.
Scorsese’s been linked for some time but was awaiting on Nesbo to give final approval. He now has and Nesbo says he’s not insisting that the film be shot in Oslo where the book is set.
Matthew Michael Carnahan will pen the script while Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce. A recent adaptation of Nesbo’s “Headhunters” has become one of the most successful films of all time in the Scandinavian region.
