Martin Scorsese is set to produce the Jean-Marc Vallee-directed drama “The Young Victoria,” about the early life of the famous 19th century British monarch.
Penned by Julian Fellowes (“Gosford Park”, “Vanity Fair”), the story chronicles Victoria’s early rise to power at 18 years old, and her romance and marriage to Prince Albert.
After his death in 1861, Victoria wore only black clothes for her remaining four decade reign which she spent mostly in seclusion. Its that image of the more conservative and solemn queen that most know about.
Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, introduced the project to IEG’s Graham King who will produce alongside Scorsese says the trades.
