“Scooby-Doo” Women Get A Prequel Film

The ladies of the “Scooby Doo” franchise are getting their own tale as a live-action prequel feature is in the works focusing on the characters of Daphne and Velma, the female members of Mystery, Inc.

Omega Underground brings word of the project which will go direct-to-DVD and VOD and star Sarah Jeffery (“Shades of Blue”) as the red-haired Daphne and Sarah Gilman (“Last Man Standing”) as the bookish Velma.

The project will be set while the characters were still teens, before they teamed up with a talking dog, a boring square, and an always hungry stoner. The pair meet online and become crime-solving friends when Daphne transfers to Velma’s tech-savvy high school Ridge Valley High.

Their mystery? Why are some of the brightest students in school disappearing, only to emerge later in a zombie-fied state?. Ashley Tisdale and Jennifer Tisdale’s Blondie Girl Productions are producing the project which Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release some time next year.
