Lionsgate has acquired North American rights to the Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin-led zombie film “Maggie”.
Henry Hobson’s film, which was set to premiere at the festival on September 12th, has now been pulled from the competition. Instead, the public will have to wait until the film’s general theatrical release in early 2015.
The story follows a Midwestern farmer who cares for his daughter after she succumbs to a deadly plague.
Industry insiders tell Screen that one reason for the removal from the festival its that Lionsgate intends to re-cut the film and do not want to present it until it is ready.
