Paramount Pictures is moving forward with the sequel to “School of Rock” says Variety.
Scribe Mike White revealed last month that he had finished and turned in the script to the studio, looks like it was approved.
Jack Black will reprise his role as rock star wannabe/substitute teacher Dewey Finn. Richard Linklater is attached to direct again, and Scott Rudin is also returning as producer.
The plot of “School of Rock 2: America Rocks” picks up with Finn leading a group of summer school students on a cross-country field trip that delves into the history of rock ‘n’ roll and explores the roots of blues, rap, country and other genres.
