School Gear Artwork Becomes A Film

“Before I Fall” producer Jon Shestack and artist Lisa Frank are teaming for a live-action/animation hybrid feature based on Frank’s psychedelic artwork used on school supplies.

Frank’s fluorescent tableaus of things like unicorns, dolphins, rainbows, puppies and bunnies have been a staple of back-to-school shopping and have been emblazoned across backpacks, binders, pencil cases, trapper keepers and stickers since the 1990s.

In the announcement, Frank says: “I have always wanted to do a feature film that brings the world of Lisa Frank to life. We have so much backstory on our characters and they have been alive in my imagination since the beginning.”
