Schlondorff To Head To “Montauk”

German director Volker Schlondorff (“Palmetto,” “The Tin Drum”) is returning to the U.S. for the New York-based feature “Montauk”.

The story follows a European writer who heads to New York for a few days to assist in the opening of his play in a Brooklyn off-Broadway theatre.

He finds himself meeting an old flame, each was the other’s greatest love but they failed at it. During a weekend, they try to see whether they can pick up the pieces.

Irish playwright and novelist Colm Toibin is co-writing the script with the filmmaker. Filming takes place next winter.
