Scarlett Johansson Belongs In A “Zoo”

Scarlett Johansson, Amy Adams, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Rachel McAdams have made the short list for the female lead role in Cameron Crowe’s “We Bought a Zoo” for Fox reports Deadline.

An adaptation of a memoir by Benjamin Mee, the story follows a man (Matt Damon) who used his family’s life savings to buy a dilapidated zoo in the English countryside.

Mee and his children had to balance caring for his terminally ill wife and dealing with all the related animal issues including readying the zoo for a reopening.

Johansson is apparently the top choice to star as the lead which isn’t the wife, but a zookeeper on the family estate. Colin Ford and Thomas Haden Church also star.

Crowe and Aline Brosh McKenna penned the script with filming to kick off sometime around February/March next year.
