Warner Bros. Pictures has set Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who is penning the upcoming “Scarface” and “Miss Bala” remakes, to write a film adaptation of the DC Comics property “Blue Beetle”.
The new film will focus on the third iteration of the character in comics, the one known as Jaime Reyes, as opposed to the more popular second incarnation Ted Kord.
Reyes, a Latino teenager, uses a scarab that grants the Blue Beetle his powers to create a powerful exoskeleton, similar to “Iron Man”. There’s no release date for the new film as yet which will be a part of the DC Extended Universe.
