Peter Block, one of the executive producers of the “Saw” franchise, has acquired the rights to the “Pumpkinhead” horror film franchise reports EW.
The original 1988 film marked the directorial debut of special effects artist Stan Winston and kicked off a franchise that included a direct-to-video sequel, two TV film sequels, and a comic book series.
Lance Henriksen played a man seeking revenge against his son’s killers with the help of the titular vengeful demon. He soon begins to have second thoughts about what he’s done and fights to end Pumpkinhead’s deadly rampage.
Nate Atkins has been employed to pen the script for the new film which Block says enhances the setting, expands the characters and still plans to make extensive use of practical effects
