Two more names have been added to the cast of the ambitious adaptation of David Mitchell’s novel “Cloud Atlas” for Warner Bros. Pictures and Focus International says The Hollywood Reporter.
Susan Sarandon and Jim Broadbent are set to join a cast which currently includes Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving and Ben Whishaw. Each of the actors is said to be playing multiple roles.
The $100 million ensemble drama spans six different story lines over a millennia. Each tale is revealed to be a story that is read (or watched) by the main character in the next – stretching from a Pacific voyage in 1850 to a tribesman in a post-apocalyptic distant future.
The Wachowski siblings and “The International” director Tom Tykwer will share writing and directing duties on the multi-strand story. Grant Hill and Stefan Arndt are producing and shooting aims to begin in September.
