Sarah Jones (“Damnation”) has scored the female lead role, the equivalent of Kim Basinger’s role in the 1997 film adaptation, in CBS’ drama pilot based on James Ellroy’s noir novel “L.A. Confidential”.
Jordan Harper penned and serves as showrunner on the series which follows three homicide detectives (Walton Goggins, Brian J. Smith, Mark Webber), a female reporter (Alana Arenas) and a Hollywood actress (Jones) whose paths intersect as the detectives pursue a sadistic serial killer among the secrets and lies of gritty, glamorous 1950s Los Angeles.
Jones plays Lynn, a sharp Veronica Lake-like beauty and aspiring actress who finds her best friend brutally murdered and Jack Vincennes (Goggins) unexpectedly at the scene. Lynn knows she has something on the LAPD detective – and decides to use it to help solve the horrible crime.
Harper, Arnon Milchan, Michael Dinner and Anna Fricke executive produce for CBS TV Studios, New Regency and Lionsgate TV. Dinner is directing the pilot.
