“EastEnders” actor Sam Strike has scored the role of the young version of Leatherface in the upcoming “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” prequel reports The Wrap.
Events of the film reportedly lead into the 1974 original. Strike plays a teenage version of the character who resides in a mental institution until he joins a pack of fellow patients who all break out and go on the run from the authorities.
Seth M. Sherwood (“Black Mass”) has penned the film which French helmers Julien Maury & Alexandre Bustillo (“Inside”) will direct. The project marks a second prequel in the franchise following “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning” which served as one to the 2003 reboot.
Strike dropped hints that he’d scored the lead role in a major U.S. film yesterday, quickly leading to now unfounded speculation that he’d landed the role of Peter Parker in the Marvel-approved “Spider-Man” reboot.
