Sam Mendes in early talks to develop and direct a live-action film adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic “James And The Giant Peach” which is in the works at Disney Pictures.
Acclaimed author Nick Hornby is penning the screenplay for the story of an orphan who lives with his two mean aunts who befriends human-like bugs who live inside a giant peach. Together they trek to New York City.
Filmmaker Henry Selick adapted the property into Walt Disney Animation’s famed stop-motion animated feature in 1996. That would make this new version yet another Disney toon getting the live-action treatment.
Mendes is coming off two back-to-back James Bond movies with “Skyfall” and “Spectre” and has previously indicated he’s done with that franchise.
