British helmer Sam Mendes (“Revolutionary Road,” “Jarhead”) is apparently in negotiations to direct the 23rd installment of the James Bond franchise says The Hollywood Reporter.
The report comes despite news yesterday of potential delays due to the possible sale of MGM. Even with the studio going on the block, today’s news indicates shooting could kick off as early as mid-Summer but MGM has yet to confirm anything.
What is official is that regular Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are still working on the script along with “Frost/Nixon” scribe Peter Morgan. As usual Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are producing while Daniel Craig will reprise his role as 007. Craig and Mendes previously worked together on 2002’s “Road to Perdition”.
