A24 has announced a prime awards-season release for “The Lobster” director Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” which will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
The company has set a November 3rd limited release for the film which stars Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman and tells the story of a surgeon who forms a familial bond with a sinister teenage boy, with disastrous results. Bill Camp, Alicia Silverstone, and Barry Keoghan also star.
Rival Fox Searchlight meanwhile has taken over a similar awards-season sweet spot for its biopic about “Winnie the Pooh” creator A.A. Milne. The Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie-led “Goodbye Christopher Robin” has been slotted in for release on November 10th in North America.
The story looks at the relationship between the beloved children’s author and his son Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh. Simon Curtis directs.
