“Borat” and “Bruno” star Sacha Baron Cohen is set to headline the remake of the 2010 Danish dark comedy “Klown” for Annapurna Pictures and Four By Two.
Based on the same country’s long-running sitcom “Klovn,” the remake is said to be similar and follows a man forced to bring the 13-year-old son of his girlfriend along on a bachelor party canoeing trip with his best friend.
Cohen takes over from Danny McBride who was attached to the remake back in 2012. The original film was a big success, leading to a Los Angeles-set Danish sequel called “Klown Forever” which starred Cohen’s wife Isla Fisher in a role.
Cohen, Megan Ellison, Todd Schulman and Scott Stuber will produce.
