A first look at Gabriel Luna as Ghost Rider has arrived both in photo and teaser trailer form.
First up, EW debuted the photo of Luna as the Robbie Reyes version of the character who first appeared in 2014 in a twelve-issue run of the comic. Executive producer Jed Whedon tells the magazine:
“As always, we are going to put our own spin on the character. We are staying true to the comics in the places where we feel like it’s really important — we love the character’s family dynamic and the East L.A. kid in him.”
A few weeks ago, Luna told THR they’re expanding on the character in the TV series due to the limited source material:
“Because there is so little material on him right now, a lot of the show is going to be expanding the Ghost Rider canon. That’s really cool. It’s all me. It’s all on me… We have this great VFX for it, and I saw the mockup the other day and I thought it was completely finished. I was like, ‘Just throw that up on my TV.’ It’s a combination of CG and also some marking on my face so I can do some expressions.”
Meanwhile Marvel has released a new teaser trailer for the season which is mostly a bit of cell phone footage of the Rider’s car. If it wasn’t directly from the Marvel YouTube channel you’d think it’s just fan made:
“Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” returns Tuesday, September 20th in a new 10pm timeslot.
