RZA, Upham Join “Django Unchained”

Actor-rapper RZA and “Frozen River” actress Misty Upham have joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained” for The Weinstein Company reports Variety.

RZA will portray Thaddeus, a violent slave toiling away at a Mississiippi plantation. Misty Upham will play Minnie, who owns a trading post/bar.

The actors join a cast that includes Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony LaPaglia, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gerald McRaney, Dennis Christopher, Kurt Russell and Laura Cayouette.

Shooting on the project is set to kick off shortly. RZA composed the score for both parts of “Kill Bill” and will next be seen in “A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas” and “G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation”.
