Appearing on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, actress Winona Ryder has finally confirmed that she will be reprising the role of Lydia Deetz in the upcoming sequel to 1980s comedy classic “Beetlejuice”.
The film has long been in development, but in recent months there’s been some genuine movement on it with director Tim Burton and frequent collaborator Seth Grahame-Smith having worked on a script with the project potentially being Burton’s next film after he wraps “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”. Ryder says:
“I think I can confirm it because Tim Burton did this interview. It was very hush-hush, top secret, ‘I don’t know what may happen, I don’t know,’ and then he was doing some press for ‘Big Eyes’ and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah, we’re doing it and Winona’s gonna be in it.’ So can I say…? I mean if he said it. But I really don’t know much more than anybody else.”
