Test footage leaked back in July for the proposed “Deadpool” film starring Ryan Reynolds. Tim Miller has been attached to direct from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick for sometime but there’s been little movement on the project.
Then came the leak which scored an overwhelmingly positive response. As a result, things may be finally moving again. Reynolds tells Niagara Falls Review:
“The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, ‘Oh, so we weren’t crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.’ It’s interesting to see the power of the Internet. It’s awe-inspiring, actually. And it’s neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way.”
20th Century Fox have yet to say anything official regarding the film in some time, though creator Rob Liefeld has reportedly found a way to make the film PG-13 without compromise he claims.
UPDATE: 20th Century Fox have announced a February 12th 2016 release date for the film.
